California-based grocer Raley’s has signed a deal to acquire Arizona grocery chain Bashas’ Family of Stores. The information has been shared by the president and chief executive officer Edward “Trey” Basha. He said that the operations will continue after acquisition without any change. In a video presentation, Basha said that the acquisition is the new beginning of the exciting chapter of Bashas’. “There will be no change in-store banners and operations of the grocer across the state. This deal is the beginning of the new chapter for Bashas’. It is going to be an exciting journey from here. The fully formed operating company would not operate under the larger enterprise,” Basha said.

As per the deal, Bashas’ will have a partner in the independent regional grocer to make sure that it would continue to provide exceptional customer and member experience. “We will continue to provide our best services to customers. We will try to stay true to the values that the company has shaped in over nine decades. We also know that the competition in the regional grocery sector is like never before but serving our customers is going to be our top priority,” the company said. The agreement clearly mentions that the Bashas’ will not only continue to serve customers across the state but also in New Mexico and its Tribal Nation Partners.

Bashas’ will also operate as an operating company under Raley’s enterprise. The grocer will continue to have its corporate headquarters in Arizona. Bashas’ Family of Stores is one of the largest employers in the US state and operates Food City, Dine supermarkets, Eddie’s Country Store, and AJ’s Fine Foods. Also, the Basha family will seize to have ownership roles in the company. It is pertinent to mention that Bashas had recently partnered with Afresh Technologies. This partnership was to help the grocer better handle the unpredictable nature of the fresh food. As part of the partnership, Bashas is integrating the Fresh Operating system at select stores.
