The molded case circuit breaker also known by its abbreviation MCCB is an interrupting device that offers protection by using fixed or interchangeable electromechanical trip units. By combining temperature sensitive device with a current sensitive electromagnetic device molded case circuit breaker provides protection. Trip settings of the molded case circuit breaker are adjustable. It protects the systems or devices against short circuits, ground faults, and thermal overloads. When current above than rated value last longer, it protects against overload. In the case of occurrence of high current, due to line fault or short circuit MCCB interrupts. The molded case circuit breaker can be used for a wide variety of application as it can be used for a wide range of voltages and frequencies. The functioning of the molded case circuit breaker is based on thermal-magnetic circuit breakers. It can be also used for heavy-duty applications, as it has high current ratings.

Molded case circuit breaker saves the space in the panel design as it comes in a compact size. It requires less time to reset to switch while it trips down. It protects the devices during various faulty situations. Maintenance of molded case circuit breaker is less costly and less time-consuming. These are some of the major advantages of the molded case circuit breaker. However, compared to fuse they are costly is a factor that could affect its demand among end users.

Increasing dependency on electricity and growing electrical production and distribution infrastructure especially in developing and underdeveloped countries are factors expected increase demand for molded case circuit breaker among end users. Growing industrialization, as well as increasing demand from utilities, are also factors supporting the adoption of molded case circuit breaker among end users. Increasing number of smart cities is anticipated to drive growth of the molded case circuit breaker market in the near future. Moreover, growing adoption of automation technology is anticipated to increase adoption of molded case circuit breakers in various industries globally over the forecast period.
