A grow light which is also referred as an artificial light source, usually an electric light which is designed in order to stimulate growth of the plant by emitting adequate light for photosynthesis process. Integration of LED in grow lights aids to illumination. LED grow lights are composed of light-emitting diodes and usually do not require specific ballast and can be plugged directly into electric socket.

These lights are often used in such a places either lacking of natural source of light or where supplementary light is needed. For instance, in winter season the availability of sunlight is comparatively lower than other seasons, which may lead to lack of adequate sunlight required for desired growth of the plant, therefore, LED lights are used to extend the light required for growth of the plant. LED grow lights offers various benefits including lower heat generation and energy efficiency, which will fuel demand for LED lights among various end use applications.

The LED grow lights can be categorized in two types: High Power (≥300W) and Low Power (<300W). The low power LED can be referred as more efficient than high power LED, owing to less emission of heat and can be used for longer time. Nevertheless, the requirement of heat can vary according to the requirement of the plants. High power LED can be used for commercial greenhouse, vertical farming, etc., as these type of farming requires more emission of heat, owing to large number of plants.
