McDonald’s is putting all efforts to win ‘Chicken Wars’ and this is why it has decided to launch three versions of a new chicken sandwich. Spicy Chicken Sandwich, Crispy Chicken Sandwich, and the Deluxe Chicken Sandwich are the three new items being added to the menu by the fast-food giant. The company has been testing some of the items for almost a year and now the official date of the launch has been announced. McDonald’s said that people will be able to taste the new chicken sandwiches starting from February 24. Reports suggest that the company began testing the Crispy Chicken Sandwich almost a year ago in Knoxville and Houston, Tennessee.

While the Crispy Chicken Sandwich will be served on a potato roll topped with pickles, the Deluxe Chicken Sandwich will come with lettuce, mayo, and tomatoes. And as the name suggests, the Spicy Chicken Sandwich will have the flavor of spicy pepper sauce. It must be noted that McDonald’s had told its investors way back in November to expect a new chicken sandwich in 2021. The company is expecting to draw more customers to its restaurants by introducing new products and making some changes like faster drive-thrus. Restaurants have witnessed a sharp decline in the number of customers because of the coronavirus pandemic and these changes may help McDonald’s to get more traffic during the pandemic and even beyond.

There were reports that the company was fast losing customers to higher-end burger joints and casual chains. As per the filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the number of transactions at McDonald’s US restaurants slipped around 1.9 percent in 2019. Franchise operators of the fast-food chain warned that a better chicken sandwich is a prerequisite to winning customers back. McDonald’s started testing fried chicken sandwiches in regional markets. The company is already serving McChicken sandwich and chicken nuggets nationally. Joe Erlinger, president of the burger chain in the USA, said that chicken is a very good bet for the company.
