When it comes to police, their job involves tough situations to be handled, and they spend their day dealing with such cases. Recently Portland police department made a brave and right decision to start a mental health wellness program for its workers. Police officers have to face very odd situations that might affect their mental health drastically, and during such time they need help. These officers shared many incidents about seeing horrible conditions that they haven’t forgotten for the last many years. Now to make sure such things don’t mess up their mind, Portland police have decided to develop a mental wellness program for all of its workers.

The report from authority shows that the department has yoga and mindfulness classes in five or six days a week. Authority’s report said that their philosophy is to build mental health and wellness in their daily routine work, which will increase productivity and help overall in the development of officers.

There was an event that happened in the Portland police department five years ago when a police officer died of cardiac arrest after the end of his shift. That event shook everyone, and authority decided to focus more on building the mental wellness of its officers with the help of various programs. Now according to this program, police officers are sent for diet, exercises, and multiple testing, which will show any sign of mental or physical health problems. This initiative is helping police officers from the Portland department very much, which is helping them to perform their duties more efficiently. Mental health programs have developed according to the nature of work performed by these officers, and this initiative is making Portland cops healthier than before.
