Tech giant Microsoft has announced plans to bring a one-off payment system for Office suites. The company confirmed that it will implement an edition of Microsoft Office suites soon. This will be released for both Windows and Mac. The development is significant as it will cut the cost of the Office suite subscription plan. Both the Windows and Mac users will no longer require shelling out a hefty price to subscribe to an Office suite plan. Microsoft said that users will just make a one-off transaction. It will last for a lifetime. The company said that it will release the plan in the second half of next year.
Microsoft said that additional information like the name of the product, its market price, and the exact date of availability will be announced later. The Microsoft Office suite comprises a set of programs, basically software like word processing, presentation software, a dedicated email program, spreadsheet tool, and others. The Microsoft Office suite is considered among the most popular packages offered by tech companies. Top players like Google also offer similar products. According to the software giant, parts of the Microsoft Office suite can be used in a web browser and locally on a computer as well.
Microsoft’s decision will make its Office suite services affordable for users. It will also come as an alternative for many. Google currently offers a G Suite package. The package includes Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Notably, there are many Office suites available for free download. But all file formats are not compatible with the free downloads. Some file formats support only on Microsoft Office. Perhaps, this is the reason behind Microsoft’s high demand. According to Microsoft, customers can subscribe to the Microsoft Office suite on a monthly or yearly basis. They can use the Office 365 cloud-based system. The company said that its latest versions of Microsoft Office allow multiple users to edit the same documents. It helps easier collaboration between coworkers.
