Sony PlayStation 5 users can now enjoy YouTube videos. The console has now support for YouTube TV live streaming. However, it needs a dedicated app to play YouTube TV live. The PS5’s YouTube TV app is available for download on the PlayStation Store. The YouTube support is a bonus for users who have hands-on the console. The move will allow users to enjoy their favorite shows and channels on the popular video-sharing platform. This comes after PS5’s addition to Google’s official device support list. PS5 is Sony’s latest gaming system. Notably, Microsoft’s latest consoles have been supporting YouTube TV since its launch.

Sony’s decision will help the Japanese electronics giant to compete with rivals. The company was considering upgrading the PS5 redesign to meet the market demand. The new generation consoles are coming with support for YouTube TV. Sony recently announced that it sold 7.8 million PS5 consoles till March 31. It claimed that the PlayStation Plus saw a rise of over 14 percent in the user pool in the last one year. It has more than 47 million subscribers worldwide. According to market researcher NPD, the PlayStation 5 became the fastest-selling console in the US market in terms of unit and dollar sales. The company couldn’t meet the PS5 demand and struggled to maintain the supply. It overshot the supply in November last year.

Meanwhile, Sony has also announced to bring Discord support to PlayStation. Discord is an online chat app. The company has signed a pact with Discord to integrate the service. This will provide a social experience to users on PlayStation. Sony is looking to introduce new ways to allow players to connect with one another. Discord will help the PS5 players form new friendships and communities. Discord has more than 140 million users. The platform allows to connect gaming firms with their fans. It allows them to communicate in audio and also text. Discord had recently called off an acquisition deal talks with software giant Microsoft.
