In a bid to make people more aware of vaccination against COVID-19, fast-food giant McDonald’s has partnered with the Biden administration. Under the new campaign, which has been named ‘We Can Do This’, McDonald’s will promote information related to vaccination on its coffee cups. The development comes as more and more people are becoming hesitant about taking the life-saving dose of COVID-19 vaccines. The campaign is expected to begin in July. Under the campaign, customers of McDonald’s will see a redesigned coffee cup and delivery seal stickers. All of them will the slogan of the campaign ‘We Can Do This.’ The slogan has been coined by the US Department of Health and Human Services to instill a sense of confidence among citizens about the vaccination drive.
Along with the slogan, there will a website address that will help people get details like safety information and nearby appointments. The website that will appear with the slogan is vaccines.gov. According to people privy to the development, the campaign will go on for several weeks. For this, McDonald’s will get the slogan printed the slogan on roughly 50 million cups. The burger giant has also said that even before it starts using the slogan on cups, the company’s billboard New York’s Times Square location will start displaying the information. This is expected to start any time during the second half of this month.
McDonald’s USA vice president for global public policy and government relations Genna Gent said that the company is excited to be part of the campaign. “We all want to see ourselves and our loved ones safe and healthy and want to be with our community again. This can be done by simply sharing some information. We are happy that McDonald’s will do its part through this campaign,” Gent said in a statement. Health and Human Services secretary Xavier Becerra said that this public-private partnership will help people get the trusted information every time they will order a meal or grab a cup of coffee. “The campaign will help more and more citizens of the United States to make informed decisions about their health. Through this campaign, they can learn about easy steps they need to take to protect themselves and even their loved ones.”
